Declare M23 a Terrorist Group
We, the undersigned, call for immediate international action to protect the Democratic Republic of Congo from foreign-sponsored aggression.
M23 is not an independent rebel group. It is a Rwandan-backed armed proxy, responsible for mass atrocities, war crimes, the forced displacement of millions, and the ongoing destabilisation of eastern Congo.
Rwanda’s government, under the leadership of Paul Kagame, has trained, armed, and strategically directed M23 with the objective of occupying Congolese territory and exploiting its mineral wealth.
We therefore call on the United Nations, the African Union, and the broader international community to:
Officially designate M23 as a terrorist organization
Impose sanctions on Rwanda’s military leadership and political officials complicit in supporting M23
Investigate and prosecute economic networks profiting from conflict minerals smuggled via Rwanda
Silence is complicity. The people from the Democratic Republic of Congo people deserve peace, sovereignty, and justice.
